Cleaning
I hate cleaning. I would rather do anything else than clean. (OK, not having my gall bladder out.) Same thing in the garden: you weed, I will plant seeds and harvest. There is a reason we had kids: to give them the cleaning jobs. (Didn't work. They hate cleaning also.) (Plus they moved out)
(well, OK, Connie actually likes to wash floors.)
So I posted something on facebook about tidying up my sewing area (and yes, it is taking over a week because I hate cleaning) and there were...comments. My daughter obviously doesn't believe I can clean and still leave room for normal activities like beating my husband at cribbage (last night he was in the stink hole!!! I'm leaving the pegs there!!! We will be playing Star Fluxx instead!!!) or letting him take his afternoon nap.
Normally, when I am done with a project I put the fabric in a pile to put back in the stash...later. Twice I have discovered that fabric I had picked out for a project is working out equally well for another project, so why should I put it back at all? I will just put it back in the project bag and stash it under the ironing board, with all the rest of them. It is perfectly safe, there are enough bags that the ironing board is not going to fall over.
Or I put it on top of some not exactly stable wheeled narrow carts that contain project wannabees, finished tops that need quilting and binding, counted cross stitch, buttons for a project that is giving me fits, fabric blocks that didn't work in a project (one set was not exactly flat. I think I threw them out, with accompanying cheers by my husband, who, Connie should know, was able to play his computer games still), fabric to make actual clothes out of, plastic bags, towels, etc.
This is my normal avalanche zone. (I have learned just how to stack things so they do not fall down easily...this is not normally a good thing. Although I can still see over it.)
When the stuff UNDER the ironing board starts to fall over, I guess it is time to clean. Right now my sewing area looks pretty good, don't you think?
Here is the rest of it:
Mind you that is after several days of refolding fabric and putting it away, finding bits and pieces that now are back in their project bags, and throwing away scraps that are less than 1.5 inches square.
And then there is the fabric stash, located in the grandson's playroom...It will all fit into that small closet in the corner. It better. Note the stash guardian under the table.
Has anybody seen my lint brush?
